Scotland - Day 3 Edinburgh to Stonehaven

We had breakfast at the hotel before heading out to explore Edinburgh.

I had Eggs Benedict and hot chocolate :)

This is Forth Bridge near the Queensferry section of Edinburgh. It's a train bridge.

This is Queensferry Crossing Bridge. It's the longest three-tower, cable-stayed bridge in the world! It's 1.7 miles long. This photo doesn't do it justice. Here's another one I found on the internet.

The following photos are a few of the buildings we saw on the way from Queensferry to Old Town Edinburgh. And by the way I was chastised at church on Sunday for pronouncing Edinburgh incorrectly. I left off the "gh" and was told that was like saying El Pas and leaving off the "o" at the end lol. It's pronounced Ed-in-buh-ruh. Now you know :)

These buildings were in Old Town Edinburgh. And "old" being the primary word - they are very old.

Before visiting Edinburgh Castle we walked up the Royal Mile and did some shopping :) I bought another sweatshirt, a light pink and gray wool scarf, a couple of mugs,

a pair of Highland cows that are salt and pepper shakers,

and a wooly sheep for my sewing studio.

I found this cute Scottish bagpiper rubber ducky in one of the shops! No, I didn't buy it though :)

Then we found a real life Scottish bagpiper! You can listen to the Scottish National Anthem (Scotland the Brave) played on bagpipes here.

This is the Tolbooth Kirk for the Church of Scotland. It is no longer used as a church.

Now it is used as an event center. Then we walked up to Edinburgh Castle at the top of the hill.

As you can see by my lovely hair, it was quite windy!

It's amazing how they built so many castles up on hills! This one had a nice slope up to it on one side so it wasn't quite as bad as some.

After visiting Edinburgh Castle, we headed to Stonehaven.

I loved the architecture of these houses!

And of course, more sheep :)

This is a good photo of a dual Carriageway.

The petrol stations were right on the edges of the Carriageways, which made it easier to find gas. And they even had Steve's favorite - Subway! Although we didn't eat there lol.

And they have Shell stations here!

There were daffodils everywhere!! On the sides of the roads, in yards, everywhere! They were beautiful!

The daffodils were even in the medians :)

I loved all of the clock steeples!

I think this was my favorite sign that we saw in Scotland! It was in many of the towns we drove through, sometimes with words and sometimes without words. This version was my favorite :) It just made me laugh! I sent a text with this photo to Aunt DeeAnn but she didn't think it was funny. That just made me laugh more!

I liked this building, even though I couldn't figure out what it was.

This is the bed and breakfast we stayed at in Stonehaven and that's our rental car on the left. It was a Subaru.

On our way down to the sea I was able to take a photo of the entire building.

This was across the street from our bed and breakfast. I loved all the chimneys!

Then we walked down to the sea and it was perfect! The weather was chilly but beautiful, the sun was just starting to set, and the scenery was awesome!

We walked around to the end of the point.

These lobster/crab traps looked ready to use.

And not surprisingly, there were seagulls everywhere up and down the coast.

There was a small protected harbour on the other side of the point. It was very picturesque.

Just as we were leaving the harbour to head back to our bed and breakfast, it started to rain lightly, and then a bit of hail! I tucked my camera into my wool coat and it stayed dry :)

We ducked into a small eatery and got some lamb gyros for dinner. By the time our food was ready to go it had stopped raining. It was my first time trying lamb and it was very good! The sauce wasn't a traditional tzatziki sauce, but more of a creamy garlic sauce.
