Missionaries

One of our favorite missionaries, Elder Chatwin, is going home this weekend. Quade wanted to get together with him before he left so we took them out to eat for dinner at IHOP. We were pleasantly surprised that we knew his companion, Elder Roberts, too! They both served in the Conroe 1st Ward previously.

Quade's Mission

Quade still hasn't received his new mission call, but he started unofficially today. He will be the technology specialist in the Texas Houston Mission, in charge of making sure that all the missionary iPads are working properly. It's perfect for him! He'll serve for another year here to finish out his mission.

Service missionaries have completely different rules. He will live at home and won't have a companion. He will go to the mission office every day like a job and probably work in the temple as well, but when he is home he can do what he wants (within reason of course). He can watch TV or go to the movies, he can go to Institute or hang out with friends. He just can't date. And he still has to get up early to do his individual study every morning.

Milking the Goats

While I was out milking today, I randomly decided to take some photos of the goat's full udders. Nutmegg's udder is looking great - especially for a first freshener.

But Buttercup's udder looks so sad, lopsided as it is. After her mastitis, her right side dried up. I think it will be fine next year. After it was healed I was able to get a little bit of milk out of that teat, but it never filled back up. So for now I've just been milking one side.

Quade's New Car

Steve found Quade his dream car :) Ever since he came home from England he has been telling us that his dream car is a Ford Focus hatchback. We've looked at all kinds of compact cars, but he was very excited when we found a great deal on this Focus! Now we have three Fords parked out front :)

Houston Skyline

Now that we know that Quade will be staying in Houston to finish his mission, he needs a car. So we've been car shopping trying to find a car for him. We drove to the other side of Houston today to look at a car, but it wasn't the right one - again. Car shopping is not fun. On the way home I took some photos of the Houston skyline from the car window.

The Unwrapping

Quade went back to the doctor today for his post-op check up.

The stitches look like a big mess, but that's because they didn't want it to open back up I guess. The doctor said it is doing great and he will get his stitches out in 3 weeks from surgery. They gave him a boot to wear to protect it, but he still has to use crutches until the stitches are out.
